Lost in the River of Grass by Ginny Rorby is a Sunshine State Book grades 6-8 for 2012-2013. When two Florida teenagers become stranded on a tiny island in the Everglades, they attempt to walk ten miles through swampland to reach civilization.

Join us in reading our next graphic novel, Smile by Raina Telgemeier! From sixth grade through tenth, Raina copes with a variety of dental problems that affect her appearance and how she feels about herself.

If you love Mayor’s Book Club but wish you had more time to talk to friends about it, join us at the Orlando Public Library most Monday at 3:30 p.m. This small group will meet to chat about the book, meet new friends, and have fun. WELCOME and thank you for joining Mayor Buddy’s Book Club. We are very excited to have you on board! You’ve got just a few weeks to read our newest selection, a graphic novel adaptation of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by Eric Shanower and Skottie Young!
When Kansas farm girl Dorothy flies away to the magical Land of Oz, she fatally flattens a Wicked Witch, liberates a Scarecrow and is hailed by the Munchkin people as a great sorceress…but all she really wants to know is: how does she get home?
This graphic novel doesn’t have page numbers so we’re not giving a suggested schedule, but we think you’re going to love that this is written comic book style.
